Introduction:

At The Kingdom of Hearts, Center for Learning we have two basic directions in our learning centers on the web. First, there is Biblical studies, which at the base of it is textual studies and the second is in Ministry or Service. Each of these course studies are designed to enhance the overall learning experience and designed to help you further in your calling and purpose that God has called you to do.

Tkoh, Institute for Learning provides training for several purposes from teaching others to increase income or reduce debt, to our Practitioners Program or Ministry Programs, which provides students with a fast passed curriculum so you may get started quickly. This is known as our Certificate or Certification or fast track programs. Credits from these programs are transferable to degree programs if the student desires a degree as well as a certificate. Fast track programs or certificate programs are only available in associate with the Ministry Educational Programs.

The other direction takes a student in a more traditional educational setting, both of which are offered on-line, this is at a slower pace and allows more interaction with teachers. These types of programs can take as student anywhere from one year to eight years to completed depending on the program the student chooses. These programs are more expensive and many students prefer the slower pace.

Either direction is about learning how to help others find solutions for their lives and takes them closer in a relation with God and the body and God's plan for people.

Credit for Life Experience & Work Study

Undergraduate Program: Academic Credit for Work Experience

Students can earn academic credit based in part on experiences outside of the university setting either because of previous experience in working or even an internship. These may include summer employment or volunteer activities at a camp for special needs individuals, in a social service agency, or in a human resources setting. To earn academic credit, a student must provide evidence that he or she learned something from that experience, and that what was learned is related to the field of ministry or helping others in some professional capacity.

The following guidelines are provided to help students and faculty arrive at a mutual understanding of what is required for the awarding of academic credit based in part on experiences outside of the university. This falls under our Internship Program. This can reduce the students time and expense considerably as it can reduce tuition costs as much as 85% depending on the students experience and how much the student accomplishes in the Internship Program.

  • Arrangements for earning academic credit for experience in a social service or human service setting must be made prior to engaging in that experience if the student is already enrolled in Tkoh. Students can register for credit for either the semester they will engage in the activity or the semester when they work on their second paper. Credit will not be awarded until all of the requirements listed below are satisfied.
  • Students should keep a daily journal in which they record what happened each day and their thoughts about these events. To protect the privacy of others, names of clients or campers should not be used. Such individuals should be referred to by a single initial or some other code known only to the writer. When done well, the journal becomes a record of how the student's thinking evolved over the course of the experience.
  • Based on their journal, students should write a paper summarizing their experience and describing what they learned.
  • An on-site supervisor should be identified. The faculty sponsor should communicate with that person to discuss the scope of the students' activities and academic goals for credit. The person should write a letter at the end of the on-site experience describing briefly what the student did, how well the student performed, and what he or she believes the student learned.
  • The grade awarded should be based on the evidence of learning provided by the student through his or her journal, the two papers, and the on-site supervisor's letter.
  • The amount of credit earned is negotiable. The norm is 3 credit hours; however, the amount of credit should be commensurate with the amount of time and effort involved. In no cases should the amount of credit exceed 6 hours based on a single semester or summer will receive credit.

In addition, students may qualify for past experience in several areas.

Credit for prior learning (PL) indicates that a student has received credit for the course by successfully documenting prior learning received outside of the traditional classroom, equivalent to the academic content. Learning that is eligible for review includes:

  • Professional training
  • Licenses
  • Coursework earned at non-transferable institution
  • Working in a church
  • Counseling center
  • Related field
  • Previous school attendance

Students seeking to receive college credit for prior learning will complete prior learning assessment applications and submit them along with original copies of appropriate documentation of completion.

Credit for professional work experience (PWE) indicates that a student has received credit for this course by successfully documenting professional work experience closely related to the defined course work, or as elective credits. Qualified experience may include that providing occupational, supervisory or management skills obtained in industry, business, military, professional, service and or related church occupations. Documentation will generally include job assignment descriptions, performance reports or supervisor letters attesting to dates of employment, assignments, specific duties and quality of work performed.

To be considered for credit toward degree requirements or electives, experience must have been at increasingly rigorous levels of learning equivalent to the level of difficulty associated with college course work.

Proficiency through advanced standing (PR) indicates that the student has earned credits for the course by successfully demonstrating proficiency through advanced-standing tests or by documentation of comparable work experience.

Have your record evaluated for credit for work experience and certifications. We value the rich and diverse experiences our students bring to the classroom. Our Education Department will be happy to evaluate industry certification training, work experience and military training.

Certificate and Certification Programs

Top

In addition to our degree programs Tkoh, Center for learning also provides Certificate and or Certification Programs, which is what we call the fast track in helping people prepare to help others. These programs by their nature are compact and can take a person from 30 days to up to a year to complete depending on which program a student chooses to enroll in. These programs where designed not only to be cost effective, but designed to help a person get started in helping people in important aspects of their lives in their body, soul and spirit, while making and above average income and that is why Tkoh offers Certificate Programs, being sensitive to a students needs and desires.

The credits earned in the certificate programs are transferable to any one of the degree programs and in taking the certification programs are less expensive as they are self directed and take less time for teachers, which is a good alternative for many people desiring to go into a career of helping people.

These programs are designed to give the students enough background information to be able to help people and include all the basic tools that a student will need in order to be successful. You will note there are two basic directions that the Certificate Programs go. The first is our Practitioners Program which has three basic levels. The other direction, although there is some overlap is Ministry which there are ten levels or different certificate Programs for students.

(1) Practitioners Programs:

Level 1: Money Matters, Dealing with Finances and Creating Multiple Streams of Income:   Increasing Income and Dealing with Debt: Today many find that they are in debt and often times over their heads and do not know what to do. Part of ministry is to help people where they are including debt relief so they may take the time to seek God and the important things of life which is God and each other. People want and need to know how to make it in life and our job as a part of ministry or helping others is to help in all areas of life including how to decrease debt and increase income. (3 credits)

Level 2: Keys to Success & Obstacles of the Mind:  Cognitive Restructuring: The first is Cognitive Restructuring, which basically is a study of how we humans learn by using our natural senses, see, touch smell, etc. The study looks at why things happen the way they do and what we can do about what does happen. (3 credits)

Level 3: Reiki Training & Herbal Formulas & Supplements for physical needs:  Training manuals, building a practice, method of income stream, mentors and templates: Vitamins and Herbal Formulas: Eating well is an important part of life. Eating the right foods, but often times the foods we eat do not have enough nutrients in the food so vitamins and supplements become important to us as we all get older. It is an aspect to life and important to people to have a healthier life and live longer.  (3 credits)

Reiki and Healing: Being healthy and healing is a very important part of life. Healing really is in several parts. Some of those parts including reducing physical stress so one can even focus on important matters. Helping people reduce stress is an important part of healing and a start. To really help people one has to look at what is causing the stress and help them in that direction. Stress is the root of cancer, heart disease and a host of other physical problems and we train people so they can help people in all aspects of life. (4 credits)

(2) Ministry Opportunities:

Ministry Offices; Pastor General Category, Pastor Counseling, Pastor Youth, Pastor Women's & Men's Ministry, Chaplain, Ministry Consultant, Missions & Missions Work, School Administrator & Teacher Training, Licensed ministers are those whose ministerial calling and gifts have been formally recognized through the granting of a ministerial license, authorizing them for and appointing them to actual service in the ministry, subject to supervision and evaluation.

(3) How to start a Home Church, Ministry or Successful Practice: Today more than any other time in history, there has been a great Spiritual awakening, renewal or movement. People can sense things are happening and those things are moving ahead rapidly. Many people have asked how to start a ministry as they want to be a part of something. Believers globally are beginning to realize that we all have been called to do something and desire to get involved in some level or other but often times are not sure what exactly to do.

(4) How to start a Christian School: At The Kingdom of Hearts, Missions and Institute, we know the challenges you face when starting a School, Private Practice or Pastoral Counseling Center. This page, written by an experienced administrator, was designed to guide you step-by-step through the process. Our mission is to provide the best resources to help make your career and life a success. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to start a school? Consider the benefits to our community, our church, and last, but certainly not least, our children.

(5) How to Run a Successful Party Plan or Business: Many people have been called to ministry. In fact, we all have been called to some sort of ministry, but yet few seem to make it. We at TKOH do not believe people should go hungry or be homeless, but yet we all know that that these thing happen. If you believe that you have been called to ministry, and you believe that you have what it takes to run the good race, then read on and answer these important questions.

(6) How to Write and Publish Your Book or Manuscript:

Have you always wanted to write a book, but didn’t know what to write about or how to start? Have you dreamed of being an author, of publishing your own work and earning money from it? This study does two things: First it takes you step by step from setting up work area to how to write the book or manuscript or dissertation and even be published on the web or in print.

    Internship Program:

    Manual for Internships,

This program is designed for those that have graduated from the school with the idea of hands on training in the field that God has called them to. This study is designed to further help the student prepare for full time ministry. Each Internship Program is custom designed for the individual student as it helps them to further develop and use the skills that they have learned in a live setting. A student wishing to participate in this program should apply at least 6 months before they expect to graduate so the missions board will have time to properly place the student. This is an important part of the education process, as it will help them further in the financing of their ministry. This also helps the student to work for support in one of several sponsoring churches for the purpose of helping finance their own ministry.

     We are responsible…..

When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, We want our hand always to be there. For that  we are responsible. We are responsible both to God and each other.

"Together we can make a change, we can make a difference!"

"God gave us His Son, Spirit, Love, Direction, Purpose, Gifts, and free will.

He gave us all the basic tools to either care for Him and others or care just for ourselves.

It is a choice either way, to either learn to work together to solve problems, but at the end, when it is all said and done, our true hearts will be exposed.

We are given two things to do, love God and how we show our love for God is to love our neighbor as ourselves."
